What were you doing before the MCL?

I earned my undergraduate degree from the University of Ljubljana in Slovenia. Throughout my studies, I gained experience in various settings, including a law firm, a think tank, a ”Big Four” accounting firm, and academia. These varied environments allowed me to apply my theoretical knowledge to real-life challenges immediately, developing a pragmatic approach to the law. This motivated me to pursue further education in a program with a strongly practical approach and focus when compared to other available courses.

What were your impressions of the MCL?

The MCL surpassed my expectations in many ways. Being part of a small community of dedicated, talented, and hardworking individuals motivated me to push myself and achieve the unimaginable. The lectures dealt with real-time issues in a highly academic setting and were interdisciplinary, equipping us with skills often neglected but important in practice. The lecturers were of the highest calibre yet still approachable.

Beyond the MCL, living in Cambridge offered much more than I had imagined. Interacting with passionate individuals from diverse backgrounds through colleges, interest groups, societies, and sports clubs has left me with invaluable skills, understanding, and respect. I believe this setting is ideal for students to develop their talents to their fullest potential.

What are your post-MCL plans and have they changed due to taking the MCL?

During the MCL, I confirmed my keen interest in legal technology. Starting in October, I will be working at the EY Technology Center of Excellence in London. My work will mainly focus on generative AI applications for legal services, which will enable me to learn more about computer science tools and methods that can transform the processing of law.
