What were you doing before the MCL?

Before pursuing the Masters degree in Corporate Law (MCL), I completed my undergraduate studies and obtained qualified lawyer status in India. Following my undergraduate degree, I pursued a specialization in corporate and financial laws by enrolling in a renowned institution in India for my LLM. It was during this program that my interest in the field deepened significantly, and I developed a passion for gaining an international perspective on corporate and financial laws, as well as expanding my intellectual horizons. This realization prompted me to apply for the MCL program, seeking an opportunity to further develop my expertise in a global context and contribute to my personal and professional growth.

What were your impressions of the MCL?

The MCL program at the University of Cambridge surpassed all my expectations, delivering an immensely gratifying experience. It masterfully combined an in-depth exploration of the theoretical underpinnings of corporate transactions with hands-on insights into how professionals from esteemed law firms strategize and counsel on intricate deals. This enjoyable balance emerged from the program's fusion of theoretical and practical elements, facilitated by the intimate class size that fostered meaningful interactions and effective learning. The array of modules, each diverse and engaging, further enriched the program's overall appeal. The course's structure is undoubtedly rigorous in nature. While demanding, this structure offered an ideal platform for personal growth and continuous advancement.

Among the outstanding offerings, two specific courses left an indelible mark. The "Deals" course was undeniably a standout, delving deep into the intricacies of corporate transactions. Equally captivating was the "International Merger Control" module, seamlessly complementing my LLM Competition Law paper. This course provided invaluable real-world insights into mergers and acquisitions transactions, significantly enhancing my understanding of the subject matter.

In retrospect, my time spent in the MCL program at the University of Cambridge remains the pinnacle of my experiences thus far. The program's distinct blend of academic rigor and practical application, combined with its demanding yet immensely rewarding structure, cultivated an environment that nurtured profound personal and intellectual development.

What are your post-MCL plans and have they changed due to taking the MCL?

The MCL program has not only reinforced but also intensified my passion and keen interest in the antitrust/competition transactional sphere. Building upon the academic knowledge I have acquired with the MCL, my immediate post-MCL plans involve channelling my experiences into a role within an esteemed international law firm. Therefore, while my overall trajectory remains unchanged, the MCL has undoubtedly elevated my confidence and competence, equipping me with a broader international perspective and an enhanced skill set to excel in the competitive landscape of corporate law.
