What were you doing before the MCL?
During my undergraduate studies in law at Democritus University of Thrace in Greece, I focused on corporate-related courses. After graduating, I started my internship to become a member of the Athens Bar Association at I.K. Rokas & Partners Law Firm in Athens. At the same time, I pursued a Master in International Economics & Finance at the Athens University of Economics & Business. I completed my internship and the Masters degree just before joining the MCL.
What were your impressions of the MCL?
The MCL was more than a Masters course. It was a challenging and exciting experience that enhanced my capacity as a practitioner as well as deepening my theoretical legal knowledge. All of our instructors were highly knowledgeable and continuous interaction with London-based practitioners further enhanced the learning process and provided us with invaluable insights into the legal market. The Deals Course prompted me to rethink my methodology for approaching legal issues. Finally, being a member of a small MCL cohort consisting of so many different cultures and backgrounds broadened my horizons substantially.
What are your post-MCL plans and have they changed due to taking the MCL?
During the summer of 2016 I taught the fundamentals of transactional risks and their legal treatment at the Cambridge Summer Institute. In September 2016, I will start an internship at the EU mission at the WTO in Geneva. After that I hope to pursue a PhD, and ultimately combine a career in practice and academia.
