What were you doing before the MCL?

Before the MCL, I completed a first rank Master's degree at Jagiellonian University. During this time, I partook in international Eramsus exchanges at Leiden Univeristy Law School, Université Libre de Bruxelles and Aarhus University. These experiences made me discover my eagerness to explore the field of corporate law and allowed me to gain exposure to various international company law issues. I subsequently chose to write my LLM thesis at Jagiellonian University on the EU and US Model Company Acts, and have received an award from Wolters Kluwer in the Polish national Competition for Master dissertations in Commercial Law.

In the summer prior to starting the MCL, I undertook an internship at UNIDROIT – International Organization for the Unification of Private Law, where I conducted research on Digital Assets and Private Law. There, I explored the concepts of custody and proprietary law in regards to digital assets, and became invested in the legal perspectives of decentralized technology.

What were your impressions of the MCL?

At Cambridge, I particularly enjoyed the Law and Digital Economy paper, which allowed me to expand my knowledge and expertise in the field of blockchain law. The enriching discussions on the interactions between the crypto industry and the legal world made me look forward to each class. The module was aimed at those interested in the field of digital assets as well as those only beginning to explore the subject. The course dealt with the implications of Distributed Ledger Technology on corporate finance, corporate transactions, and corporate governance; for me, the focal point was analysing the legal and regulatory standpoints of Distributed Autonomous Organisations.

What are your post-MCL plans and have they changed due to taking the MCL?

Before coming to Cambridge, I had no firm plans for where this journey would take me. After completing the MCL, I have decided to differentiate myself in legal practice and become a blockchain lawyer and academic. I am currently involved with the Cambridge Centre for Alternative Finance, where I research the regulatory side of the Emerging Money Systems by inquiring into the legal perimeters of stablecoins. I am further deepening my understanding of the crypto industry by becoming involved with DAO and web3 projects & initiatives. Learning about crypto law motivated like nothing before, and I intend to further my academic and professional involvement in this space.
