What were you doing before the MCL?

Before coming to Cambridge, I had practiced for a little over seven years as a corporate lawyer working on mergers and acquisitions and general corporate advisory matters with two leading Indian law firms, JSA and Luthra & Luthra Law Offices.

What were your impressions of the MCL?

Despite having some professional experience as a corporate lawyer, I found the MCL to be challenging as well as intellectually stimulating and quite plainly, fun! The unique structure of the program with the four, one-term modules not only complements the teachings in the full year Deals Course but also allows students to choose papers which match their particular interests.

I particularly enjoyed the modules on Corporate Taxation and International Merger Control as they were both inter-disciplinary in nature and the teachings from those two courses also synced well with the Deals course and with my full year LLM paper, International Financial Law.

One of the highlights of the Deals Course is the opportunity for students to work on actual transaction documents and interact with practitioners from the finest laws firms in London, who discuss the different commercial transactions which form part of the course.

Finally, the MCL cohort consists of an incredible group of talented and motivated individuals, which helps one to develop and grow, both inside and outside the classroom!

What are your post-MCL plans and have they changed due to taking the MCL?

The MCL has reaffirmed my passion and interest in corporate transactional and advisory work. I hope to utilize my prior professional experience and what I learned at Cambridge to work as an attorney in the transactions practice of a law firm or as an in-house counsel with a developmental institution, advising on investments in sustainable development and associated sectors.
