What were you doing before the MCL?

Prior to joining the MCL, I qualified as a Barrister and Solicitor in Nigeria, and practiced as an In-house Counsel for about three years with one of the leading Special Economic Zones in West Africa, the Lekki Free Zone Development Company. I advised local and foreign investors across various sectors on their investment in Nigeria, and particularly within the Free Trade Zone, specialising in infrastructure, energy, real estate, corporate and general commercial advisory matters. Thereafter, realising I needed a more critical and in-depth understanding of corporate transactions, I applied to the MCL.

What were your impressions of the MCL?

The MCL turned out to be everything I had wanted and more. It was an enjoyable programme offering a perfect blend of an intense theoretical analysis of corporate transactions alongside a practical appreciation of how practitioners from both magic and silver circle firms structure and advise on complex deals. The class size made it easy to interact and learn, coupled with the interesting modules on offer. The course structure and delivery of modules by experts in the various fields made the MCL even more enjoyable for me.

What are your post-MCL plans and have they changed due to taking the MCL?

After the MCL, I intend to qualify as a Solicitor in England and Wales, continue practising by transitioning into private practice as a law firm associate, where I will be able to consolidate my previous experience and the knowledge and insight gained on the MCL, while gaining further exposure and advising on much more global complex transactions.
