What were you doing before the MCL?

Hailing from a business background and always having a keen interest in law, in the year 2019, I completed an integrated undergraduate law degree - B.B.A., LL.B (Hons.) - from a University in Mumbai, India. After that I was working for a year in the field of Insolvency and Bankruptcy Law with an insolvency professional firm in Mumbai, India. I then joined the MCL course.

What were your impressions of the MCL?

I was initially apprehensive as to how difficult undertaking a course at a university as prestigious as Cambridge would be, but owing to their scholarly faculty and well-structured curriculum, this journey was nothing but smooth. This course is the perfect blend of theory and practical application, thus making it very useful for an up-and-coming corporate lawyer. The eclectic range of subject offerings provide a holistic learning experience, and constant references to laws of other nations in each curriculum helps in developing the understanding of the subject even better from a global point of view. One aspect of this course that benefitted me the most was the implementation of termly assessments that gave me a lot of time to prepare and learn about the subject more extensively as opposed to the usual stressful year-end exams that other masters courses offer. Lastly, a special mention to the Deals course – undoubtedly the most practical course exposure that I have had in any of my legal studies!

What are your post-MCL plans and have they changed due to taking the MCL?

Having completed this course, I am even more certain that I want to work in the field of Corporate Law and thus I intend on working with a tier one law firm in India.
