What were you doing before the MCL?

Coming into a course like the MCL, I was open-minded and wanted to experience something new. After my integrated undergraduate law degree, I was already interested in corporate law. During my subsequent LLM in corporate and commercial law, I honed this skill further and found my passion for teaching and research.

What were your impressions of the MCL?

The MCL at Cambridge provided the perfect platform that balanced theory and practical experience. It is an experience like no other. The course might seem intense with the termly exams and ongoing submissions, but this kept me on track. The weekly readings and discussions gave me the perfect understanding of the subject. The well-crafted course structures with the balance of teachings, discussions and further readings provides the perfect opportunity of self and peer learning. Each of the courses are fashioned exquisitely and provide choice according to one’s needs and specialisms. In addition, the compulsory LLM course component enables interaction with other master’s students and was a crucial part of my study.

What are your post-MCL plans and have they changed due to taking the MCL?

The MCL does not just equip you for working in a law firm. It also provides new opportunities in academic research, while enabling experienced lawyers to add new dimensions to their professional career. Studying at Cambridge has opened so many new doors for me, while also giving me a whole new perspective on life. After the MCL course, I plan to work as a research associate before beginning a career in legal academia.
